Message from our President!

Fellow SDHIMSS members,

First of all, I would like to thank you for electing me President and allowing me to represent our state in the HIMSS organization, it is truly an honor. It has been such a wonderful opportunity full of personal and professional growth. We are just coming off of the SDAHO conference, and I for one am always impressed by our speakers and the wealth of information the conference provides. SDHIMSS will once again partner with the Upper Great Plains, a collection of state chapters from Nebraska, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana, to host the Chapter Reception at the national HIMSS conference in Las Vegas. If you are planning on attending HIMSS this year, I would encourage you to attend the reception. Additional information will be provided shortly.

Secondly, I would like to thank the Board of Directors, both present and past. It’s hard to believe that our chapter is almost 7 years old. We have certainly come a long way, and for the most part that is because of the dedication of those early members who saw the value of being a SDHIMSS member. We currently have 447 members and growing. In order to assist our organizational affiliate locations, we have recruited an ambassador at most organizations. The ambassador role provides a direct communication line from the board members to the organization.

Finally, I would like to emphasize the beauty of a SDHIMSS membership is that you not only have access to HIMSS resources, but you have the opportunity to network with other members who are looking at solving many of the issues you might be facing. Being an active member opens those doors to communication with other organizations on a personal level. If you are interested in becoming a more active member, we are always looking for members to serve on the program, nominations, communication, and/or sponsorship committees. For more information about these roles, please feel free to email us at sd.info@himsschapter.org.

Thank you,

Erica Knippling

SDHIMSS President
