We're planning a special digital experience for the 2020 HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition.

It’s official! We are planning a special digital experience for the 2020 HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition. Our goal is to make all of the sessions and panels from HIMSS20 available online.

For those already registered for HIMSS20, you will have access to HIMSS20 Digital and, as is our policy, you will be automatically registered for HIMSS21 in Las Vegas! Speakers, exhibitors and sponsors will be contacted with further information about HIMSS20 Digital.

 

 

HIMSS South Dakota elects new Board Members

Congratulations to our new Board Members for HIMSS South Dakota!!

President Elect: Holly Arends brings over 20 years of experience to the healthcare community. She has contributed her knowledge and experience in Information Technology implementations, health care operations, clinical care, Quality Improvement, Privacy and Security, Research methodology, Project Management, Quality Payment Programs, business startup strategies, and health care consumer engagement. Holly has served HIMSS South Dakota chapter as Treasurer, a founding member, a speaker at several SDHIMSS conferences, and is great supporter of this chapter. She has a passion for partnering with health care organizations to ensure they are well informed and assisted in their journeys with health information technology. Holly is currently a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality. She was the recipient of the HIMSS SD Chapter Career Achievement award in 2019.

Secretary: Mark Smith joined Monument Health in Rapid City, South Dakota in 2012, and is currently serving as the Manager of Enterprise Intelligence Analytics. The focus areas for Enterprise Intelligence Analytics includes (but not limited to) reporting services, data quality management, and data analysis for clinical, financial, and human resources initiatives throughout Regional Health. He originally joined Monument Health as a Registered Nurse on their Cardiac Interventional Unit. Prior to joining Regional Health, Mark served 10 years in the South Dakota Army National Guard where his main role was as a signal support systems specialist.  Mark earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from South Dakota State University in Rapid City, South Dakota. He also received a Master’s Degree in Nursing Informatics from Walden University Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Program Director: Patti Brooks is the Director of Quality and Accreditation for Avera Health Plans. Her roots are in Health Information Management where she spent over 10 years working in various roles in hospitals and nursing homes. She then spent close to 23 years on the IT leadership team for Avera. She has served as an adjunct instructor and Assistant Professor at Dakota State University teaching courses in health information management, healthcare informatics, and information systems. Patti holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Administration from Dakota State University, an MBA from the University of South Dakota, and a Masters and Doctorate in Information Systems from Dakota State University.   Patti is a past President of the South Dakota Health Information Management Association (SDHIMA) and was the first president of the South Dakota Chapter of the Health Information Management and Systems Society (SD Chapter of HIMSS). She has also served as the SDHIMSS Program Director for two years and has been involved in the SDHIMSS Program Committee since the beginning of the Chapter.  As the SDHIMSS Program Director, two of Patti’s goals would be to: 1) Evaluate current methods, timing, location, and content to get more SDHIMSS members involved in our educational opportunities and 2) Look at ways to collaborate more closely with neighboring states in educational events and speakers.

Member at Large: Marcine Forrette currently works for Sanford Health, in Technology Solutions. She has been a member of HIMSS since 2012 and has held board positions of the South Dakota Chapter of HIMSS including Treasurer and President, and is currently serving as Past-President. She holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree; a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology (BSMT); and is certified by the America Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). Professional memberships include the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
